Those looking forward to experiencing Crystal Dynamics’ fresh look at iconic gaming heroine Lara Croft will be waiting a bit longer than expected; Late last night, Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher announced via the game’s official blog that the release of the Tomb Raider reboot would be delayed to Q1 2013.

“We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve,” Gallagher said in his post. “We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait.”

Gallagher also assured that this delay would not have any effect on Tomb Raider‘s showing at E3, and that both he and his studio are excited to let the public get a better look at it.
