Retro City Rampage has been floating around as a project for a few years now, but with its release set for sometime this summer (and hopefully not delayed again) the E3 show floor is as good a place as any for this downloadable indy title to get some time in the spotlight.

Starting life as a passion project of programmer Brian Provinciano, Retro City Rampage grew from a simple 8-bit remake of Grand Theft Auto III into its own animal, bursting at the seams with ’80s pop culture and simplistic style. The blend of NES-inspired graphics and modern conventions like lock-on targeting and character customization presents a game tailor made for players who grew up in the 8-bit era and kept at it through the years.
